Toronto’s Waterfront Comes Alive for Canada’s 150th at the Redpath Waterfront Festival

Nationally renowned DJ Creeasian will be remixing Canada’s cultural sounds including Aboriginal, Celtic, French, European, Afro-Caribbean, and Asian. Interactive and engaging, Rhythm of the Nation/ Rythme de la Nation invites audiences to discover Canada’s rich diversity through dance and music. Celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary at the annual Redpath Waterfront Festival (RWF) presented by Billy Bishop Airport this Canada Day weekend, July 1-3. The waterfront will come to life with interactive shows and entertainment, food, drink, shopping, games and much more in two beautiful parks: Sherbourne Common and HTO Park. This year, the Redpath Waterfront Festival is the official launch of the ONTARIO 150 Tour presented by Redpath Sugar. This pan-provincial event will travel to five other waterfront communities throughout the summer in honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary, including Owen Sound (July 7-9),Sault Ste. Marie (July 13-15), Midland (July 21-23), Amherstburg(August 5-6) and Brockville (August 10-13).

BE AMAZED BY THE WORLD’S LARGEST RUBBER DUCK
Measuring 61-feet tall, (6 stories) 79-feet wide, and 89-feet long and weighing in at 30,000 lbs. the World’s Largest Rubber Duck is on her first engagement in Canada. Visit this giant yellow duck in HTO Park all weekend long.

CELEBRATE THE NAVY IN TORONTO
Give a warm welcome to the HMCS Toronto’s crew and their 440 ft. frigate as they cruise into their ‘name sake’ city for Canada Day weekend. Join the Royal Canadian Navy in Sherbourne Common for free ship tours and meet the crew to learn more about an exciting career in the Canadian Naval Forces. Test your endurance by joining the Navy crew for a motivating 5 km fun run along the Martin Goodman Trail. Check out the Navy Chef BBQ Cook Off on Sunday, July 2, and see Commanding Officers from HMCS York, Toronto Naval Reserve and visiting ship, HMCS Toronto, battle head-to-head in a culinary BBQ showdown.

EXPERIENCE RHYTHM OF THE NATION/ RYTHME DE LA NATION
Rhythm of the Nation/Rythme de la Nation is supported by the Government of Canada’s, Canada 150 Fund. This highly original work has been created specifically for the ONTARIO 150 Tour. CATCH THE ACTION PACKED WEST COAST LUMBERJACK SHOW
From Canada’s Got Talent, The Bachelor Canada, and Bates Motel, the West Coast Lumberjack Show will deliver 45 minutes of non-stop lumberjack action, including log rolling, tree climbing and axe throwing! Cheer on the teams as they compete head-to-head in Sherbourne Common.

HOP ON THE FREE RWF SHUTTLE
Enjoy the free RWF Shuttle courtesy of Hyundai to visit both HTO Park and Sherbourne Common. Some lucky visitors may be chosen to get a VIP drive experience from Hyundai. The 100% pet friendly shuttle will have two stops, one across from HTO Park and one in Sherbourne Common. Hyundai has also confirmed their partnership for the ONTARIO 150 Tour and will travel to other Ontario locations during the summer.

DROP BY THE FAMILY FUN ZONE IN HTO PARK
There will be tons of fun and excitement for everyone at the Family Fun Zone in HTO Park, brought to you by Live Green Toronto. Complete with music, crafts, temporary tattoos, yoga, face painting and more. Hang out with Live Green’s mascot, Woody, and celebrate Canada’s 150th with fun, interactive and educational activities on Toronto’s waterfront!  Stop by the Redpath Sugar Sweet Truck to try their sensational shortbread cookies and take a photo at the photo booth. Try your hand at duck-themed visual art activities for all ages and levels of experience courtesy of Toronto School of the Arts. Make friends with Billy Bishop Airport’s Mascot, Billy the Flying Fox while waiting for the perfect selfie opportunity with the World’s Largest Rubber Duck.

Toronto’s Waterfront open-air market features a carefully curated mix of 75 local, up-and-coming artisans, crafters, chefs, and bakers. The Waterfront Artisan Market presented by The Waterfront BIA and operated by Scadding Court Community Centre, returns to HTO Park. Toronto’s Waterfront open-air market features a carefully curated mix of 75 local, up-and-coming artisans, crafters, chefs, and bakers. Shop for finely crafted jewellery, unique art, artisanal gifts, and delicious food.
