Belfountain Conservation Area

Perched atop the Niagara Escarpment, Belfountain Conservation Area is a 13 hectare seasonal oasis that’s home to beautiful waterfalls, water fountains and scenic foliage in Caledon. 

The Belfountain Conservation Area is located in the hamlet of Belfountain on Credit Road, northwest of the town of Caledon.

More about Belfountain Conservation Area

Belfountain Conservation Area’s fairytale setting makes it a favourite among photographers and newlyweds. Visitors will swoon as they traverse the famous suspension bridge and spend hours gazing at the waterfalls and limestone cliffs, or spend their afternoon exploring the Yellowstone Cave and the historic Belle Fountain–both fixtures remain largely unchanged since the 19th century. 

Visit the Belfountain Conservation Area in autumn and watch your surroundings become awash with golden leaves. Anglers and admirers alike will enjoy the clear freshwater lakes filled with brown and brook trout. 

Explore the 1.7 km hiking Trimble Trail, which branches out from the Bruce Trail and traces the slopes of the West Credit River Valley, down to the Forks of the Credit, or the short yet rugged 0.7 km Gorge Loop Trail that leads into the Niagara Escarpment outcrops.

Visit the charming little hamlet of Belfountain on the Forks of the Credit Road filled with quaint homegrown stores and cafés. Buy unique souvenirs from The Common Good general store or enjoy a hot cup of fair-trade coffee with a freshly-baked cookie at  Higher Ground Café. Nearby the Cheltenham Badlands and Terra Cotta Conservation Area are both under 15 minutes away. Gourmands and cider enthusiasts will also be glad to know that Spirit Tree Estate Cidery is just 10 minute drive away. Cap off your adventures with their artisanal hard ciders and locally sourced meals and pastries while gazing out at their scenic apple orchard.
