Attention Lavender Lovers, flowering season is around the corner. Plan a trip to your favourite farm, or check out some you haven’t visited yet. Both useful and versatile, lavender is known to soothe anxiety and stress, promote restful sleep, and has rejuvenating properties for skin and hair care. Plus, it’s really pretty and smells nice.
Terre Bleu, Milton
Ontario’s largest lavender farm grows eight different varieties and offers a full menu of activities. Gain insights into the life of a lavender farmer on a guided tour of the farm, the distillery and the honey house. Follow the Yellow Bench Trail that winds through a 200-year old cedar forest to the expanse of lavender fields. Look for art installations throughout the property, catch the horses in the equestrian demonstration ring or find your zen with Yoga In The Fields. And be sure to visit the farm store to pick up a jar of lavender honey. Finally, toast the day with fresh herb fruit Mocktails at the herb bar. Can we interest you in a Lavender Peach Bellini or perhaps a Pineapple Lavender Mojito?
Serenity Lavender, Colchester
The name really says it all. Serenity Lavender Farm grows over 40 varieties and invites you to come ‘learn the language of lavender’ on a farm tour. Did we mention it’s on a winery? North 42 Degrees Estate Winery offers tastings of their whites, reds and rosé. It’s also a stop on the Windsor Essex Trolley Tours. Turn a day trip into a weekend adventure with a stay at the recently renovated and totally retro, The Grove Hotel in nearby Kingsville.
